How Badhouse came to be

Badhouse (our version) started as a group of friends back in the late 80's. The woman who would become my first ex-wife and I moved into the lower half of a duplex in Burbank, CA. Little did we know that we would be living next door to the landlord's daughter, boyfriend to become husband, future kids, and a whole clan, who we lovingly referred to as 'The Hoffmans', who would make regular appearances along with their many friends. Here is a satellite photo of the place.

As we all knew each other in this little area, we began to refer to ourselves as 'Badhouse'. We drank and smoked (pretty much anything green or brown) copiously, and frequented the bars for pool, darts, and a lot of Jack Daniels. We did a lot of things together, with way too many stories to tell.

Larry's in the picture there was the place for us to go for lunch on many a weekend. A little way up the street to the left was The Coral Cafe, where the main founder of Badhouse, one of my best friends, spent many nights writing the TradeWars Advanced Tactical Simulator, otherwise known as TW_ATS. Many references can still be found on the web. If you see anything regarding Badhouse Corp, or Evildude, or Evildude II, regarding TradeWars, that's us. We ruled many a BBS TW game back in the day of dialup internet access when a 14.4k modem was something to get excited about.

As of the late 90's, Badhouse all went their separate ways, got married, had kids, divorced, moved, what have you. The Hoffman clan still exists in Burbank, and most of the peripheral members are still living in So Cal in the San Fernando Valley. Only myself, and my bro, are still living the Badhouse Way. We refuse to grow old, still drink Jack Daniels (although we now drink water as the backup!), and still think of life as a game to be played to the fullest, regardless of circumstances.
